Born en route to America to a single Vietnamese mother who emigrated here along with two older sisters in 1979 with only $25 to her name, Tawny Thieu-Walker is the owner of Liquid Salon.

Simply put, Tawny Thieu is the quintessential American success story.

It was a humble, yet difficult beginning for a single mother with 3 young daughters who spoke no English, but wanted her children to have a chance at the American Dream. Naturally, money was extremely tight and young Tawny always got stuck with her older sister's hand-me-downs.

Understandably, she became obsessed with fashion and high heel shoes as a little girl, because they seemed "glamorous." Tawny started to work as soon as she could, and at 16, secured a receptionist job for a local hair salon. She soon fell in love with the beauty business and continued to work in this industry while putting herself through college at Oakland University, where she earned a bachelors degree in Business/Marketing in 2002.

Her first office job would be her last. She immediately returned to the salon business, and literally found the location for her first business, Liquid Salon, before she had the money to open it. Armed with a business plan and determination, she eventually opened Liquid Salon in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan in April of 2005 with her brother in law Timothy Upchurch.

But her lifelong passion for shoes led her to open her first retail store, Pink Pump, in June of 2006. Within 6 years Tawny expanded ten fold, opening stores in Bloomfield Hills, Birmingham, Ann Arbor, West Bloomfield, Troy & Royal Oak.

In 2012, Tawny began her career as a business consultant with New York based consulting firm Mosaic Research Management.  In 2014, Tawny founded her own consulting business, Tawny Thieu-Walker LLC, to provide workshops, consulting & public speaking services to salon and retail entrepreneurs.  Her Million Dollar Salon workshops have sold out repeatedly and garnered her rave reviews.  Dubbed "the pint-sized powerhouse" by the Detroit Free press, she has been featured in DBusiness' 30 in Their 30's, national tv series Start Up USA, Crain's Business, Fox 2, WDIV, WXYZ, Hour Detroit, StyleLine, Florine Mark's Remarkable Woman & Ambassador Magazine.  www.tawnywalker.com
